Hi guys

My account was set to auto opt in and now it has disabled it and says I need a 5 event streak to activate it. What’s the point in having it if it’s not going to work correctly. Any ideas ?

Tia

Hi Tia

The auto opt in feature becomes available once you’ve built a five-event streak. To maintain your streak, you’ll need to use less energy than forecast during each event you’ve opted into.

If your streak is broken, auto opt-in will be disabled, and you’ll need to complete another five qualifying events in a row to reactivate it.

We hope this helps! Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions, and thank you for being part of the equiwatt community.

What was the reasoning behind withdrawing this feature for members that fail to hit their targets @yasas ?

It seems many of us are currently locked out of our accounts and unable to opt-in to new events. If auto-opt in hadn’t been turned into a reward, we’d still be helping you earn money from the grid …I guess some of us still might be, but without access to our accounts it’s impossible to know

Hi Rich,

The reasoning behind this change is primarily to encourage positive and consistent energy-saving delivery during events. Auto opt-in means members are automatically entered into events without actively choosing to participate each time, so we want to make sure it’s enabled for members who are regularly able to reduce their energy use against their forecast.

If a streak is broken, auto opt-in is temporarily disabled until another five qualifying events are completed. The intention isn’t to discourage anyone from taking part, but to encourage reliable delivery and ensure automatic participation is having a positive impact during events.

We apologise for the smart meter data ingestion issue we experienced over the past couple of days, which unfortunately impacted some members’ ability to participate in events.

We’ve now deployed a fix and are actively monitoring things to make sure everything is working as expected.

We hope to see you both taking part in upcoming events ⚡, and thank you for being part of the equiwatt community 🙂
